Education has been rightly called the panacea of all ills and is the most decisive factor in the progress of an individual and of a nation.At the same time, the world is witnessing an unprecedented advancement in the field of science, technology and information and the need is to keep abreast with the changes and development occurring in and around the world. It is therefore, unavoidably essential to develop innate and inborn potential of every child to meet unforseen and stringent challenges. In its quest to foster the all round personality of a child, the school undertakes various endeavours and activities and has ventured a number of initiatives. The aim is to develop an integrated life, strengthen character and inculcate sensitivity towards society.

It encourages students to participate in various examinations like NTSE and MVPP Olympiads, Cyber Olympiads, Ramanujan Talent Search Exam, MCQs and Science Exhibitions etc.

As knowledge is available now-a-days at the click of a mouse and the learner seeks for a 'Knowledge absorbing society' rather than 'Knowledge gathering society', conventional teaching has been replaced by dynamic, student centric, interdisciplinary, project based and digital teaching. To cope with the challenges of modern times, smart classrooms are introduced. Electronic Boards are installed in the classrooms and e-teaching with its audio and visual appeal is helpful in developing creative, constructive, competitive and confident students.

A student selects an activity of her/his interest from the activities/Clubs assigned to a class. These skill classes nurture the innate and insatiable qualities of a child, make learning fun and impart essential skills useful in day to day life.

PHYSICAL DEVELOPMENT INITIATIVES
The school aims to provide physical and mental fitness, social awareness, leadership qualities and inculcate sportsman spirit in a child. It nurtures the qualities of head, hand and heart. It makes a sincere effort to provide its children opportunities to instil good habits for their total physical development and health. PEC India, a CBSE and British Council Initiative Programme is running successfully. Physical education, sports activities, meditation and drill classes and special coaching classes are arranged for students. Skating, Lawn Tennis, Table Tennis, Archery, Carrom, Chess and Cricket Academies provide coaching to students who are interested to specialize in their sport of choice. Students are encouraged to participate in various sports competitions organised at school, state, national and international levels. Khel Utsav or Sportsmania is organised to allow children to compete in healthy sports. Friendly Inter House and Inter Class matches are also held.

LIFE SKILLS EDUCATION
The school firmly believes that education must empower the students to face challenges of life, earn a livelihood and develop a positive approach through self introspection, self analysis and self-growth. Topics which promote analytical thinking, bring a positive change in attitude and addresses social and emotional concerns are discussed with students. Life Skills are integral part of our curriculum and is seamlessly interwoven with the day to day teaching. This is facilitated by the personality development period held weekly with each class.

Communication Skill Nurturing Programme
Students are expected to have acquired a reasonable degree of language proficiency by the time they leave the school. Keeping in view the need to develop greater confidence and acquire language skills necessary for social and academic purposes, to appreciate and engage students in independent reflection and enquiry, consistent efforts are made to upgrade the level of communication skills. To ensure that students speak English with confidence and fluency, incentives in the form of titles--Ambassador Speaker, Star Speaker and Pilot Speaker in classes Pre-Primary to VIII are given. The school arranges different communication skill classes, clubs, workshops, presentations, Rhetorics, Spell Bee contest for students in all classes especially primary, middle and secondary. Communication Enhancement & ASL are internal part of English Curriculum from Junior to Senior classes. Visit to language labs helps enhance vocabulary, structure in spoken and writing skills.

Spell Bee
Language is the most important form of communication with one another. Therefore, command over the language, be it spoken or written, is essential. Training of accuracy and spellings in the formative years lays a stron foundation of language skills.
To provide the right platform school conducts Spell Bee. Incentives are awarded in the form of gold medal (95% and above), silver medal (90%-94%) and bronze medal (85%-89%).

Math Bee Contest
Maths Bee Contest is conducted for classes II to VIII to make the learning of Mathematics more pragmatic and life oriented at the school level.The students are evaluated on the basis of their mathematical skills by innovative questioning. Incentives are awarded in the form of gold medal (95% and above), silver medal (90%-94%) and bronze medal (85%-89%).

Helen O Grady International Classes
Helen O Grady program for students of classes Nursery to VIII and Cambridge wing uses drama as a medium to groom young, keen and enthusiastic learners. In this programme children learn to express themselves in articulate and clear English and are encouraged to explore, imagine and speak their mind to evolve as more confident human beings.The unique curriculum which is different for different age groups, is extended to work on life skills and social interaction skills thus helping children achieve an all-round development focusing on Speech, Voice modulation, Vocabulary, Elocution, Storytelling, Mime to Music Recitation, Theatre and much more.

Exploring Untapped Talent
Encouragement and opportunity are provided to students to participate in various activities, to reach their greatest potential, to develop the qualities of 3Rs (Reading, Writing, Arithmetic) and 3H (Head, Heart, Hand).
Assemblies (Classwise, Housewise, Important Days), Celebrations, Live Class Presentations (especially in Primary Wing), Classwise Projects (Curricular, Co- curricular, Extracurricular & Sports), Talent Hunt Activities, Intra and Inter class, Intra & Inter House, Interschool events like organisation of ANNUAL EXHIBITION EXPO, TRIUMPH, PRAESTANTIA, CRESCENDO, ENSEMBLE, CROSSROADS, SPECTRUM, ULLAS UTSAV (Classes II-V), CHRYSALIS (Nur-Class I), Talent Hunt, SPORTSMANIA, ANNUAL DAY & SAMBHAAV (Enterprise Challenge) and other cultural activities are conducted throughout the session. Classwise, Subjectwise E- magazine, newsletters are made by the students. Students participate in MUN (Model United Nations), which is an academic simulation of the United Nations where students play the role of delegates from different countries and attempt to solve real world issued based on Sustainable Development Goals with the policies and perspectives fo their assigned countries. The school makes an effort to provide every student a platform to showcase his/her hidden talent and qualities.

'Adopt A Child' Policy and 'I Quest' Classes
Under 'Adopt a Child' policy of the school, teachers give extra coaching to differently abled children. These children are first identified by teachers. They are provided with need based and customized assignments. Special classes are organised for them on Saturdays where teachers make extra efforts to help improve their academic performance.
Similarly in 'I Quest Classes' extra time is devoted to intelligent and gifted students especially in Mathematics and Science.

I-Quest Test Series is an initiative to enhance analytical thinking and inquisitiveness among the students. This develops their pragmatic approach and enhances interest in science and maths. Atal Tinkering Lab (ATL)
“Nurturing young minds to Innovate”
Atal Tinkering Lab (ATL) is an initiative launched by the Government of India under the Atal Innovation Mission (AIM). The aim of the Atal Tinkering Labs is to foster curiosity, creativity and innovation among young students across India.
These labs are equipped with various resources and tools as 3D printers, robotics like, electronics components, and more, to enable students to experiment, innovate and create solutions to real-world problems.

AI-Power that will FUEL the Future Global Digital Economy
Schools have an important role to provide learning opportunities for the students and guide them on the path to success. We have identified the need to channelize learning towards applying innovative skills and applications that will contribute towards a robust future in a sustainable world. ASTRONOMY CLUB
The Astronomy club promotes and fosters development of science of astronomy and related technology. The students primarily learn science by observing and analyzing objects around them. It advances the awareness of the cosmos and hosts celestial gazing on telescopes and astronomy events. Through special workshops and hands on experience activities, the club creates interest in solar system, planets, universe and kindles imagination and creativity.

THEATRE IN EDUCATION
Theatre is the ultimate immersive art form, targeting every sense simultaneously i.e. visual (spatial - images, gestures), aural (auditory-musical), verbal (linguistic), physical (kinethetic).
The power of theatre in education as a learning tools adds purpose and creativity thus helping the students to find out their unique ways to discover answers for themselves. It ultimately improves self-esteem and empowers them with healthy life choices.
The school has engaged Asmita Theatre Group - imparting education through theatre for students to promote social and emotional concepts such as recognizing and managing emotions demonstrating empathy, taking responsibility and improving self- awareness.
The workshop enhances the leadership qualities of the students thereby giving proper boost to grow skills like learning, communicating listening and experiencing new bonding that can be developed through such platforms.

Model United Nations (MUN)
“The earth is but one country and mankind its citizens.”
As global citizens the young generation of today is nurtured to be thinkers, creators and path breakers of the future. These youngsters, as global citizens, will build a world order based on human values of universal peace, love and co-existence. MUN provides a perfect platform for this futuristic endeavour. The debates and discussions provided in the MUN platform stimulate and act as a catalyst to precipitate these future leaders into great decision makers, and consensus building engage themselves through the discussion and debate on the world’s most pressing problems thus paving the way for the development of 21st century skills of active listening, global communication, reflection, critical thinking and questioning.

Digital Initiative
Cyberite Club of our school aims to improve the ICT skills of the students by nurturing their creative and programming skills, and sharpening their research and presentation abilities. The club also aims to promote innovation among the students as they seek out technological solutions to problems that may arise in school environment. EXPO - Showcase of events related to advancements in the field of technology are held every year. BRIDGE - An Array of Interschool Computer Competitions is held in the school. CYBER Week celebrations are held to sensitize the students about Cyber Crime and Cyber bullying issues. At academic level students are groomed to use ICT skills developed in collaborative projects under Subject Enrichment activities.

Disaster Management
VISION : An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.
Schools are places where children assemble for learning and spend most of their time each day. They are the most vulnerable in any disaster or disaster like situation. Disaster Management Guidelines on School Safety Policy therefore, constitute a critical resource in the learning trajectory of students.
A well-conceived emergency preparedness plan can go a long way not only towards reducing fear and anxiety but also safeguarding oneself from personal injury in the face of potential disaster. Herein, lies the need of a resilient and precise plan, where communities respond to disaster with a sense of urgency and by developing a holistic and proactive strategy for Disaster Management.

We recognize that School Safety is not a one time or static process, it is an ‘on-going’ dynamic process and safety principles need to be incorporated in the day-to-day functioning of the school. We at DLDAV have in place mechanisms to address everyday issues in relation to mock drills, power outage procedures, early dismissals on account of unexpected events, health and safety concerns, trespassers or accidents etc.
Awareness programmes on local hazards and risk reduction with relevant knowledge and life skills through discussions, drawing competitions, quiz competitions, essay/slogan writing etc. have been proven ways of involving children in meaningful activities. Safety campaigns and preparedness drills have also made important contribution towards enhanced risk awareness amongst children who in turn have become ambassadors of safety, thereby spreading awareness in their communities.

Kindness Matters : Collaborating with UNESCO MGIEP to mobilize youth for the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals through acts of kindness.
EUGTS (EU goes to school) : Partnering with the WISE Foundation to raise awareness among students about EU-India relations and global issues. The other partners in this initiative are The European Union Delegation in India, United Nations in India and Danish Water Forum.

YOUTH TOURISM AND HERITAGE CLUB – The Youth Tourism and Heritage Club at DLDAV Pitampura under the aegis of Ministry of Tourism, India, aims to raise awareness among the students regarding the diversity of India’s cultural heritage and to sensitize them towards their role as the custodians of the rich and unique magnificent cultural legacy. Many activities like Heritage walks, visiting our famous monuments, conducting workshop for the students are organised that inculcates a sense of responsibility for preserving the marvellous treasure which defines India’s cultural identity.

HEALTH AND WELLNESS CLUB INITIATIVES – Health and Wellness Club at DLDAV Model School Pitampura, through a myriad of initiatives, aims at promoting holistic well-being. The Club’s Anti-Tobacco drive educates students and community about dangers of tobacco use. CPR training equips individuals with life-saving skills. During ‘National Nutrition Month’ the club spreads awareness about the significance of healthy eating habits. Additionally Anti-Cracker campaign advocates for respiratory health and environmental sustainability. Engaging activities such as poster making competitions and quizzes further enhance understanding and involvement in health-related issues among students. Through these proactive endeavours, the Health and Wellness Club contributes significantly to fostering a culture of health consciousness and empowerment within the school and beyond.
FINLIT CLUB – Financial Literacy is the ability to understand and effectively use various financial skills. It is also the ability to make informed judgements and to make effective decisions regarding the use and management of money. The single biggest difference between financial success and financial failure is how well you manage your money.
The mission of the club is to sensitize students about various aspects of finance through several fun with learning activities, quizzes, crosswords and interactive sessions.
PARYAVISION CLUB – Paryavision Club has been formed in school to sensitize students towards the protection and care of environment. Club launched massive campaigns to spread awareness for clean environment. For this, important days are observed like Earth Day, Cleanliness Day, No Plastic Day etc. The club has joined hands with kids for tigers : The Sanctuary Tiger programme for school students. This is an educational outreach programme that leads a groundswell of support for nature conservation and protection.
ARYA YUVA (INTERACT) CLUB PROJECTS – The Arya Yuva Club (Interact Club) of DLDAVPP is always ready to serve the community. The club conducts a myriad of events that aid various causes in society. It collaborates with numerous foundations and works towards achieving equality of opportunity, justice for all and literacy for each. These programmes are a step forward in realising the ideal of service before self and are engaged in igniting the potential spark of learning in the marginalised and underprivileged sectors of the society.
ROTI BANK : The members of the Arya Yuva Club (Interact Club) of DLDAV Model School Pitampura and the students of the school enthusiastically participate in Roti Bank organized every Friday. The freshly made packets of Rotis wrapped in tin foil are hygienically transported to the needy. The club keeps encouraging the students and teachers alike to donate to this beautiful cause. Hundreds of packets of Rotis and Biscuits are collected every time and hundreds of people are fed.
PROJECT PATRIKA : Schools consume a large amount of paper on a daily basis and a much larger amount is wasted. Thus, on each floor of the school, the club placed wooden recycling bins. Every piece of discarded paper is placed in these bins. After a certain amount has been collected it is sent for recycling. Through the years the club has sent over 2 tonnes (2000 kg) of paper for recycling which is equal to saving 34 trees. This year the club donated 500 kgs. saving about 10 trees.
SEWA BHARTI – EACH ONE TEACH ONE : This is a program of imparting education to the children in neighbourhood slums and donating books and notebooks to the children of weaker sections and ‘Spreading smiles to achieve happiness’ by visiting and distributing sweets at the Sewa Bharti MaitriChhaya Orphanage.
DONATION DRIVE : The Arya Yuva Club (Interact Club) of DLDAV Model School Pitampura donated winter and summer clothes to the Sewa Bharti (NGO), Jagat Mitra Foundation, Marriages of Poor Girls/Boys. The donations are collected from the whole school by Club members. The collective contribution of the whole school is not only for the children but also for the caretakers and staff members at the NGO.
BLOOD DONATION CAMP : Donate Blood Save Lives. Interact Club of DLDAV Model School, Pitampura has always been a saviour of many collecting and donating large number of units of blood to Rotary Blood Bank.
CLIMATE ACTION : The Arya Yuva Club of DLDAVPP worked diligently towards Saving Environment. Debates in classes are organised. Project like Ecobricks and Milk Packet Recycling are conducted to make the children Environment Saviours.
ELECTORAL LITERACY CLUB : The Electoral Literacy Club is a significant initiative towards empowering young minds in order to build a community of well-informed future voters. The club envisions to encourage a generation of informed, engaged and responsible citizens who are passionate about democracy and actively involved in shaping their society. The Electoral Literacy Club in school is designed in cultivate a culture of civic engagement, democratic participation and electoral literacy among students. The club principles and civic responsibilities through a variety of interactive activities, promoting active citizenship and response leadership.
READERS’ CLUB : IGNITING THE JOY OF READING :
“Reading is the gateway skill that makes all other learning possible.”
Reading is more than just a habit – it is a journey of exploration and discovery. It nurtures curiosity, expands knowledge and provides both recreation and valuable information.
To foster a love for reading among students, the club organizes various activities throughout the year. Students’ Internship Programme is organised annually in collaboration with Scholastic India to promote diverse reading options. Under this programme, Book Fair is also organised. ‘Meet the Author’ Sessions provide the students a chance to interact with renowned children’s authors for an enriching literary experience. DEAR Activity (Drop Everything and Read) is conducted regularly in all classes to instil consistent reading habits. Gold, silver and bronze medals are presented to students of classes II-IX for completing specific reading targets, encouraging enthusiasm and commitment.
Through these initiatives, Readers’ Club aims to create lifelong readers who approach the world with curiosity and wonder.
INCLUSIVE EDUCATION CLUB – The Inclusive Education Club, formed by school counsellors and special educators, aims to raise awareness and promote sensitivity within the school community towards individuals with disabilities.
In line with DOE directives various activities at the school level across all wings are organised. These include celebrating World Autism Awareness Day, organizing an inclusivity quiz, creating wall magazines, conducting mobility and orientation activities, promoting a school-wide inclusivity pledge, screening disability-themed movies, etc.
Monthly updates, along with photographs, are shared with the DOE. Through these initiatives, the club works to foster a more inclusive and supportive environment for all students.
ROAD SAFETY PROJECT
Road Safety Campaign and drive sensitizes students, parents and community at large in inculcating civic road sense and grooming them to be future leaders. The action plan covers areas like monitoring swift movement of traffic around the school in peak hours with special focus on the use of helmets and seat belts like driving and to use footpath towards the entrance to the school.
To contribute to the cause road safety activities are organised for classes Nursery to XII, promoting safety for a sustainable future.
We continue to participate in Global Road Safety Projet : ‘YOUR IDEAS, YOUR INITIATIVES, ROAD SAFETY ACTIONS FOR BETTER ENVIRONMENT.’
HELPAGE INDIA
The school has collaborated with HelpAge India, an NGO to sensitize and awaken students of our school to the needs of elderly people in our society. Visit to old age home, summer internship programmes for abandoned elderly and celebration of Grand Parents Day are organised from time to time.
This inculcates a habit of sharing n caring amongst the students with the community at large. The motive is to strengthen the bond between the two generations by making our experienced, adorable senior citizens fee lively and happy.
